Research Scientist I
Aishwarya Borate is a Research Scientist at the ByWater Institute, where her work focuses on hazard mitigation, climate adaptation, community resilience, and population change across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. She is currently involved in two research projects: one examining how communities can strengthen regional resilience to hurricanes, flooding, sea level rise, and other extreme weather events that cross county boundaries; and another investigating the drivers of coastal out-migration in the Lower Mississippi Delta. Her research employs a mixed methods approach, combining advanced statistical techniques, qualitative analysis, and GIS. Aishwarya holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Environmental Planning and Policy from the University of California Irvine (UCI).
