Gabe Vald is a Research Associate at the Hydroinformatics Lab at Tulane University, where he specializes in applied Machine Learning (ML) research and Health Informatics. Holding a Master of Science in Health Informatics and a background in Enterprise Leadership, Gabe focuses on bridging the gap between advanced technical concepts and their practical, clinical utility.

His research portfolio is centered on building intelligent systems for complex data environments. This includes leading the development of the Patient Report Template (PRT), an AI-powered tool for nursing handoffs, and Data Expert, an LLM-driven tool integrated into a larger information system to consume and analyze real-time sensor data for water quality (WQ) monitoring.

Gabe is also the architect of a specialized Medical Education Platform. While its pilot focus is on AI safety, the platform is designed as a no-code environment that allows medical subject matter experts to rapidly create and deploy educational courses, ensuring critical healthcare knowledge remains freely available and accessible.

With a background that includes NSF I-Corps and Venturewell programs, Gabe combines full-stack development expertise with a strong foundation in scientific writing and entrepreneurial strategy. His work continues to focus on developing open-source solutions and tools that transform high-level data into actionable, life-saving insights.
