Reepal Shah holds a Ph.D. from IIT Gandhinagar in India and specializes in large-scale modeling of physical processes, hydrology, and ecohydrology. In one project, sponsored by NSF-INFEWS, Reepal developed a suite of models to understand the tradeoffs between hydropower development and food security in the Mekong region, considering climate change and changes in land use. In another project, sponsored by Media Lab Asia, Reepal and his team improved water use efficiency and agricultural productivity by using advanced sensors and models to predict droughts in real-time. Through their research, Reepal Shah aims to find ways to address environmental and water management challenges for a sustainable future.
